Imagine a world without God. A world with people that are so self-efficient that it is considered a weakness to have faith in anything other than yourself. Their mental evolution disavows the spectacle known as faith and the term god is only used by those disillusioned by circumstance and incapable of understanding concepts greater than what they had come to believe. The people in the world without God rely on science and logic to prove and disprove all things. The scientific method is the golden rule. Everything that exists can be explained by research and commitment. If an area of concern has not been explained or mastered, it is due to the lack of diligence and perseverance by individuals applying the scientific method. Humans, animals, and all classes of life have been originated from carbon based matter in which over time and very particular circumstances enabled life through molecular chemistry, thus evolving into the various forms of life present in their world. The people did not acknowledge a god because there is no physical sovereignty that enforces supreme power. People simply reward themselves with entitlement by deriving and placing labels on the things,
processes, laws of mechanics, and energy as they encounter them. People know that they did not create the things that naturally exist, but they feel empowered by naming and understanding them. This gives them a sense of security and control. Man is accountable for all things in this world and is very happy to explain their intelligence among themselves.
Social wellness is comprised of people meticulously categorizing others into groups they deem valuable to their respective environments. Friendships are internally compartmentalized to provide security to each of the parties involved. True emotion is never expressed during relationships out of fear that the other will use it as a disadvantage point to leverage an opposing force to get what they want. Despite of all this, people rely heavily on one another to supply each and every need for everything to anyone. Their personal contentment is as disposable as the consumer products they purchase daily. When this way of life becomes stressful for anyone, there is a specific particular doctor for whatever ails you. There is a medicine designed to lessen every illness or mental disorder to a point in which the health disorder is reclassified to be re-assigned a new medication. In reference to human health, life is a series of doctor visits yet to be determined.
In this world without God, Stefan, a freshman student, walks into his Intro to Philosophy class on the first day of college. The professor announces: “No! There is not a God, and you will prove it to yourself.” The professor continues: “Your first assignment due at the end of class today is to write an argument for the existence of God, and then using the same reasoning, disprove God exist.”
Stefan thought to himself and surmised if God existed that God would be all encompassing and creator of all. If God created all things, then all things must be of God. All things begin and end with God, therefor, God must be intelligently efficient because why would God waste any part of Himself ? Stefan thought about how all cycles on Earth were intelligently designed for efficiency. All were perfect examples of how God’s intelligent efficiency could be expressed through His creations. The water cycle started in the oceans where evaporation occurs giving rise to clouds that then rain on land allowing rivers and runoff to return the water to the oceans. Atmosphere was created from the cycle of plants exchanging carbon for oxygen with oxygen breathing organisms expelling carbon for oxygen. The carbon cycle started in the ground where plants grew then were eaten by other organisms that ultimately died and returned to the ground for the cycle to begin again. Stefan knew he was a carbon based life form and his body would return to the ground from which it came, but what about his self, the being that was thinking and writing this assignment at the very present time. Stefan was alive, not some pile of dormant carbon based matter. Stefan began to think about why he was aware of his being.
In Stefan’s prerequisite reading for this class, he read a famous philosopher that said, “I think, therefor I am.” He thought a little harder on the subject and realized that modern medical science had proven that consciousness existed with measurable evidence displayed by fMRI and PET scans. If consciousness existed, then it too would have the same intelligent efficiency designed into it as all other creations from God. Stefan wondered where his conscious came from and where it would go after he died. If it was from God, then how would it return to God? Where and what was the process or cycle that could be defined in all other intelligently efficient designs by God?
Stefan decided no process existed that returned the quantity of being that he knew as consciousness back to its originating source. This was Stefan’s reasoning against the existence of God. If God was in all things and all things were created by God intelligently and efficient, then why did his conscious exist without this design? Why was the world he lived in unable to methodically supply this answer?
The answer: God did not exist and never came as Jesus Christ in Stefan’s world, therefor, Stefan was never made aware that Jesus Christ offers the return back to God.
Fortunately for us, we live in a world with God. More importantly, we live in a world with Jesus Christ who offers us The Way back to God by accepting Him in to our lives.
